An Immersive Story

I like science fiction but the vast majority of SciFi is so far-fetched that its only real value is for entertainment. It lacks the emotional connection of most good stories.
I will not be able to disclose the proposed name of the book until I have solidified things with a publisher but here is a little tidbit to wet your appetite.

The current politically twisted and corrupt environment of our world today, along with greed for power and money from various segments of our society, provides part of the inspiration and backdrop for the story line. Centered around one main character and his family the story will envelop the reader into a world they will find easy to identify with. Unlike some stories you may have read or seen where the plot gets lost a quagmire of action scenes and hard to follow characters, my novel has a clear plot from start to finish. Each scene builds the framework that submerges the reader into the story.

“It all starts with a good story” – although these words have been repeated by many authors and film makers over the years I like the way Jim Berk, former CEO of Participant Media, said it: “it all starts with a good story. It’s how you establish an emotional connection. For us, the story is primary. Without this we will not move forward with a project, no matter how important the issue.”

I got the idea for this story a few years before I started writing it. The only reason it took me as long to write as it did was because ‘life got in the way’. But when life settled down and I could spend time writing the story flowed almost effortlessly. It was fun to watch the story unfold and the plot intensify.

Now I find that my writing time on the story, now into the second volume in the series, is the most enjoyable time of my day. As I write I get drawn into each scene as if I’m there. My wish is for my readers to experience the same connection with the story. That will be my goal for every book I write.

Although I haven’t given you any indications of the story itself let me simply say this: “It all start with a good story, and this is a good story.”
